About the band
History. History and roots. Yea we go back in time together. Always found time to jam. Not necessarily all at once. Someone or another was always booked with their own band. Then as fate would have it, we were all band-less at the same time. We have all played with better musicians and vocalists at one time or another. We all could have hooked up with better musicians and vocalists right now. But when it comes right down to it, how many chances do you get to play with talented lifelong friends? Guys you know and trust. No egos, no hidden agendas or illusions of grandeur, just having fun making some music. Back in time? Maybe, but we think of ourselves as 5 'N' Time.
John Rusiniak: Lead Guitar and Vocals
John Rusiniak is the founder of 5 'N' Time. He played wooden music with Fred and garage band stuff with Jim though their "formative" years. Then he hooked up with Joe in the original Wet Sunday and then later in the Wet Sunday II version with his son and friends. John was also in a south suburban based band called The Ride and more recently in Joliet based bands Vintage X along with Frank and Camouflage with whom he still plays bass. He's a guitar whore who will sit in with most anybody.
Joe O'Keefe: Keyboards and Vocals
Joe O'Keefe is John's brother in law (keep it in the family boys..) and is a veteran blues keyboard player. Joe has played with such bands as Sloop, Wet Sunday and the Neighborhood Blues Band. Joe's influences include Steve Winwood, Gregg Rolie and Leon Russell. With all of his keyboards he definitely takes up the most space on the stage (Ask him about his cut down Hammond)
Jim Rozynek: Guitar and Vocals
Jim Rozynek has the kind of voice you love in a blues musician and he also plays a mean guitar! Jim had stopped playing for a long time when injured in an industrial accident. At a high school reunion, John and Fred got him to start playing again and he has more than made up the time. He is also the showman (and biggest ham) in the band.
Fred Pammer: Bass, Acoustic Guitar and Vocals
Fred Pammer's bass drives the groove for the 5'N'Time band. How does one become a bass player? Well, first, you want to be in a band with friends and the one thing they lacked was a bass player - hey I can do that - it's only four strings! Then you start listening to influences like John Entwistle, James Jamerson, Jaco Pastorius and Stanley Clarke and say what the hell did I get myself into? So you start to listen, learn and play with anyone you can until you finally get the chance to play with lifelong friends. What could be better?
Frank Barbaro: Percussion and Vocals
Frank Barbaro is a veteran blues drummer who keeps 5'N'Time in time. His drumming career started when he was playing on boxes at home. He's progressed a long way since then. Frank has worked with in Chicago area music with bands such as Secondstage, Jetstar, Ray Sapko from Tantrum and Scott May from The Ides of March. He has most recently worked with Vintage X along with John. His influences include Mitch Mitchell from Jimi Hendrix, Ginger Baker from Cream, Don Brewer from Grand Funk and others.
